Chord
A chord is a set of three or more notes sounding simultaneously or in a melodic succession. Harmony explores and studies the classification and the relationships existing among different chords.
The chords made up by music figures which are lower than whole are joined through a single stem located on the part of the note that is less far away from the third line (Example 1). In case of equal distance, the reference stem is set towards below (Example 2). If the notes of a chord are much more distant, they are not written as aligned but from right to left with respect to the stem (Example 3). Examples:
