The notes can be even written out of the pentagram but in this case they have to be accompanied by additional cuts as signs indicating imaginary lines. In some instances, in order not to make the reading too difficult because of the too many cuts, we use the indication accompanied by a horizontal line of "octave above" or "octave below".
